Improve your output by sharing URLs and attachments

There are many ways Toqan can provide value for you if you share website links or document attachments with it. In this article we’ll look at two ways in which this is helpful:

  • Sharing a link and asking Toqan to analyse, explain and/or summarise the information in the article so that you don’t have to read it.
  • Sharing a document in the chat and ask Toqan to analyse, explain and/or summarise the information.

How to share a URL

In this example, we’ve taken an article from The Guardian and asked Toqan to summarise the information. The prompt: Summarise the contents of this article in about 100 words: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/nov/09/the-us-has-lost-faith-in-the-american-dream-is-this-the-end-of-the-country-as-we-know-it

Note the instruction to stick to a word count – you could ask it to do longer or in bullets or whatever you prefer.

When links don’t work

There are instances in which Toqan won’t be able to access a website via the URL. This happens in the case of sites requiring a login and password, or if the site has actively blocked AI crawlers. Most media organisations do this and YouTube recently started to block crawlers so you can no longer provide a URL for a YouTube video transcription.

When this happens you’ll receive a message from Toqan to say it’s not possible to access the link, as shown in the example below.

Sharing a document

You can drag a document into your chat or you can upload it manually. This can be done in Slack (below) or Toqan web (bottom image).

Select your file and give the instruction to analyse, summarise, translate, or whatever it is you’d like Toqan to do with the document.
