Can’t find a use for Toqan? Here are 6 tips to become unstuck

The head of your business has said it’s time to use Toqan. Your manager has made it clear it should be part of your workflow. Your colleague is enthusiastically jumping in to try it. And you? You’re just stuck because you can’t see how Toqan can help you with your job (and you’re not even sure if it can even help you).

Does this sound familiar? You’re not alone. Many new users of Toqan and other AI tools can’t immediately see the value. But it will pay off if you take some time to think about it – Toqan has saved regular users nearly 50 minutes on average every day. For some users it’s many more hours because they’ve figured out how to integrate it into various parts of their work.

How do you get to that point? Try these tips.

Tip 1: Take notes

Keep track of your tasks for a few days. See what items come up regularly and how Toqan might be able to help you. It may not seem obvious at first so really give it some thought once you have a few days worth of information.

Do you have many meetings? Record them and have Toqan transcribe it for you. Send many emails? Give Toqan the basics to write it for you and you can edit to suit your needs. Do lots of research? Get Toqan to do the initial web research for you so you can skip the first round of googling.

You may be amazed at how much Toqan can save on tasks that you can do with your eyes closed but still takes up time.

Tip 2: Ask questions

Every time you need to tackle a task, ask yourself: “Is this something Toqan can do?”. If you know it’s something Toqan can do, go for it. But also, try it if you’re unsure if Toqan can do it – you may be pleasantly surprised!

Other questions to ask to help you get going:

  • What tasks do I really want to hand over to someone else? Give those tasks to Toqan to see how it does.
  • Where do I have friction in my workflows? Investigate if Toqan can solve the problem.
  • What parts of my work drives me nuts? See if it’s something Toqan can help with to alleviate the frustration.

Tip 3: Set a reminder

In the beginning it’s easy to forget you have an AI assistant so set a reminder in your calendar (or more than one). Remind yourself to use Toqan at least once a day until you get into the habit. Many users who’ve gotten into the habit soon see the benefits and can’t imagine ever working without Toqan again.

Tip 4: Imagine it’s your intern

Toqan is already quite sophisticated and not just at an intern level but you need to get used to using it first. So imagine you have an intern. Make a list of what you’d give the intern to do. Keep in mind how you would instruct the intern, what guidelines you would give them, what resources you would provide so they could perform well and what boundaries you would create to ensure they don’t do something silly.

Try this with a few different tasks. And don’t give up when the first few attempts aren’t as great as you expected. As you would with an intern, you have to figure out how to instruct Toqan to let it give you the output you want.

Tip 5: Talk to others

Ask your colleagues how they’re using Toqan. It’s possible they’ve discovered plenty of uses for it that you can simply copy. There are also several use cases and examples in the rest of the site. Head to the Toqan Task section for more.

Toqan can also be used as a teammate in Slack – add it to the relevant channel and engage with it as a Team.

Tip 6: Play and experiment

Stop thinking about Toqan in a work context for a minute. Imagine it’s just a fun tool to play with. Ask it silly questions. Tell it to make odd images. Test whatever pops in your head to see what Toqan comes up with.

Then move on to things you’ve always wondered about. Ask Toqan to give you an answer.

Next tell it to craft a speech you’d give to your team about something you care about (it can be personal or work).

Keep trying interesting questions or instructions so you can get a feel for what Toqan is and what it can do. Playing is the best way to learn. Once you have a feel for it, try it with more serious work tasks and don’t give up if the first few times don’t work.
