How to summarise documents
You can save hours of time by using Toqan to summarise documents for you. There are many ways to prompt Toqan to do it – the type of prompt will depend on what kind of outcome you want.
A general summary request
In the example below, all we’re asking for is a broad summary of the document. We want to know only the five to 10 most important parts of the Edelman AI landscape report.
You can tell Toqan whether you want the output in bullets or paragraphs. In this example we’ve specified the output must be bulleted but with a short sentence to go with each bullet.
A focused summary request
You can also ask Toqan to summarise a document but with a specific area in mind. In the example below, we’ve asked Toqan to summarise Microsoft’s 2024 Work Trend Annual Report and instructed it to focus on the areas related to talent acquisition and retention.
If you’re in management or human resources, this would be relevant to your ability to recruit talented employees. If you were in a different department – for example, you’re in finance and interested in remuneration trends – you could ask Toqan to focus on that for your summary so you could know how you’re doing compared to the rest of the market.
